The awarding ceremony for the Baltic Innovation Prize 2022 and the Baltic Assembly Prizes and Medals took place on October 28, 2022, at the Art Museum “Riga Bourse.” The Baltic Assembly Prize honors the inventiveness of the people of the Baltic region and emphasizes the value of collaboration among the Baltic States. Jānis Vucāns, president of the Baltic Assembly, stated that the accomplishments of this year’s Prize winners and medalists are a great honor to the Baltic Assembly because “they are all evidence that via the partnership of the Baltic States can we go forward, reach progress, and succeed.” The Baltic Assembly Prize winners for 2022 are Kai Aareleid (Estonia) for literature, Šarūnas Sauka (Lithuania) for the arts, and Gustavs Strenga, Andris Levāns, Renāte Berga and Laura Kreigere-Liepiņa (Latvia) in Science.
The 2022 Baltic Innovation Award
The goal of the Baltic Innovation Prize, which was established by the Baltic Assembly and the Baltic Association of Science/Technology Parks and Innovation Centers, is to honor a successful Baltic entrepreneur who has incorporated new, economically successful developments into their product(s), service(s), or business model(s). BELSS from Latvia was congratulated on taking home the award this year. The company’s major goal is to become the most reputable and safest industrial partner in the defense and security sector. Their business activities include designing and implementing dual-use communication network projects (building, set up); distributing military and civil equipment (on land, in combat vehicles, on ships, for air forces); and preparing equipment for use, repairing, and maintaining it.
